Setting Up Your Outdoor Overhead Lights
In yards where space is not very prevalent, obtaining light fixtures which hang above the ground can serve to increase usable space. In the following guide we will discuss several different types of outdoor lights which are designed to be hung from hooks.
1) Hanging Lanterns
Lanterns are used for a lot more than simply illuminating a camping space. Certain types of lanterns are more decorative than utilitarian, and are thus good matches for use on patios and in gardens. If the lantern is candle powered, simply place a small tea light inside of it and hang it up. Solar lanterns are just as easy to set up, requiring only a day or so to charge their batteries. The advantage of solar lanterns over candle powered ones is that they require no fuel replacement and turn themselves on and off. Such lanterns often have decorative glass panels which are colorized and overlaid with patterns.
2) String Lights
A string light offers unlimited outdoor creative expression being that they come in so many different themes and varieties. Basic string lights can range from several feet to 25, 50 feet or more. Consumers can find string lights in any theme imaginable, ranging from animals like birds to objects such as candy canes. Because of this wide selection, it is easy to cycle through different sets of string lights throughout the year according to the season and holiday.
3) Rope Lights
The rope light is different from the string light in that each of the light bulbs is contained within a weatherproof line of plastic tubing. The tubing is both clear and flexible, allowing light to escape by keeping the electrical lines safe. The tube is flexible enough to be wrapped around columns, railings and even placed over doorways and windows. You can also line the edges of your patio with rope lights.
