Hi there! I’m an Aussie girl who has recently moved to Europe and one of the things that I am loving about living here is the abundance of cheap and beautiful flowers. I live close to the markets and they are so cheap I can never resist picking up a bunch of something bright and fresh.
The only problem is I don’t have many vases and I’m on a big budget!
Luckily I’m a crafter from way back so I came up with an effective and affordable way to make my own vases.
What you will need:
Wine bottles, clean pasta jars, or clean tins – anything you think would make a nice vase
Puff paint
Spray paint
Old newspaper
To start with, ensure your new vase is clean and all labels have been removed. You can leave them to soak overnight in the sink with some washing detergent, this will remove any last stickiness.
Once your vases are dry, pick up your puff paint pen and start decorating. You can add a few words, draw some simple pictures such as love hearts or flowers or just make some patterns – whatever suits your own style! I personally like having a selection with my favourite words – love, peace, joy & hope.
Once dry, take them outside, place some old newspaper down and spray paint them evenly all over. Let dry once again, a lot of patience is needed for this project!
You now have your very own beautiful embellished vases, use them in clusters of uneven numbers. They look wonderful if you have a few different colours clustered together. You could do a whole selection of pastel colours or just stick with black and white.
