Did you know that the King of England banned the game of golf for a period of time in the 15th century? There are many of us that to this day rue the day when the ban was lifted. But still one has to wonder why the King did such a thing. Keep in mind that the King had the first ever
recorded purchase of custom made golf clubs!
You can follow the evolution of the game, its rules and the equipment used since it all began in the 15th century.
This so called “gentleman’s game” spread to the United States quickly. You can follow its history from the formation of the first golf club at Albany, New York in 1659.
